ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT :

     The Electrical Engineering Department was started in 1947 with 40 seats as intake capacity upto 2005.
     In 2006 the intake capacity was enhanced to 69(including 5% TFW and 10% LE).
     IN 2014 the total intake capacity was enhanced to 175(in first shift 80 and second shift 60 including 5% TFW AND 20% LE).

VISION :

     To produce an effective and socially responsible diploma Electrical Engineers to serve the future needs and challenges of the society through emerging technologies involving analytic and practical skills..
MISSION :

      M1-To strengthen academic infrastructure leading to quality professionals through modern technology in the field of Electrical Engineering.
      M2-To create a passion for learning and promote innovation.
      M3-Developing simple, appropriate technologies which will be instrumental in the upliftment of rural society

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs):

     PEO1-To develop the ability to apply the fundamentals of science, engineering and math. to solve engineering problem.
     PEO2-To prepare diploma graduate to involve in higher studies, industries and to become entrepreneur in long run.
     PEO3-The ability to work as a team member and leadership skills.
     PEO4-Engage in lifelong learning, career enhancement and adopt to changing professional and social needs.

List of Program Outcomes:

      PEO1-Basic and Discipline specific knowledge: Apply knowledge of basicmathematics, science and engineering fundamentals and engineering specialization to solve the engineering problems..
      PEO2-Problem analysis: Identify and analyse well-defined engineering problems using codified standard methods.
      PEO3-Design/ development of solutions: Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs.
      PEO4-Engineering Tools, Experimentation and Testing: Apply modern engineering tools and appropriate technique to conduct standard tests and measurements.
      PEO5-Engineering practices for society, sustainability and environment: Apply appropriate technology in context of society, sustainability, environment and ethical practices.
      PEO6-Project Management: Use engineering management principles individually, as a team member or a leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about well-defined engineering activities.
      PEO7-Life-long learning: Ability to analyse individual needs and engage in updating in the context of technological changes.

      PSO1- Apply principles of technical skills for building, testing, operation and maintenance of electrical systems such as electrical machines, power and energy systems.
      PSO2- Model, analyze, design and realize physical systems, components or processes related to electrical engineering systems.
      PSO3-Work professionally in power systems engineering, Electrical machinery and electrical circuits.

BASIC ELECTRICAL LABORATORY :

  1. To be familiar with A.C. fundamental and circuits.
  2. To be familiar with basic principle and application of energy conversion devices such as  D.C. Machine, A.C. Motor (both 1- phase & 3- phase & 1 phase Transformer).
  3. To be familiar with the generation of electrical power.
  4. To be acquainted with wiring and protective devices.
  5. To be familiar with circulation and commercial billing of electrical power & energy.

CIRCIUT THEORY LABORATORY :

  1. Verify the theorems using circuit theorems.
  2. Know the various types of filters.
  3. The students will become familiar that the theories which they have learned from books are true.
  4. The students will become competent in the field of circuit analysis.

ANALOG ELECTRONICS LABORATORY :

  1. Identify the active components.
  2. Understand the behavior character of basic semiconductor devices.
  3. Understand the concept of oscillator. Amplifier, Rectifier etc.

ELECTRICAL LABORATORY PRCATICE – I :

  1. To acquire knowledge of construction, characteristic and control of the DC machines.
  2. To acquire knowledge on performance of DC machines and transformers of all types.
  3. To acquire knowledge of testing and maintenance of transformers and DC machines.

DIGITAL ELECTRONICS LABORATORY :

  1. Familiarized with use of Digital ICs.
  2. Understand and comprehended the simple the Digital design Circuits.
  3. Know A/D & D/A conversions.

ELECTRICAL LABORATORY PRCATICE – II :

  1. To study  various parts, their material specification and working principle of induction motors, synchronous motor, synchronous generators, single phase AC motors  and other special machines.
  2. To study their operating principle and working characteristics, derive torque equation of three phase motors.
  3. To find out the losses and efficiency of all three phase machine like induction motor, synchronous motor, synchronous generator.
  4. To study methods of starting and speed control of AC motors.

POWER ELECTRONICS LABORATORY :

  1. To study working principle characteristics & application of various power electronics devices.
  2. To study different gate triggering circuits. and commutation methods
  3. To study working principle of phase controlled rectifier.
  4. To study the types and working principle of inverter.
  5. To study working principle and voltage control of chopper.
  6. To study frequency variation using Cyclo converter.

MICROPROCESSOR LABORATORY :

  1. Execute a program using 8085 microprocessor.
  2. Control the traffic light using 8255 interfacing.
  3. Control the speed of stepper motor using interfacing.
  4. Execute a program for A/D converter and D/A converter.
